He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Bluebird and USS Alcar.
He was a member of Buck Creek Christian Church, Brownsburg Masonic Lodge No. 241, and of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Jane Bailey; sisters, Mildred Stoner and Janice Carter. He is survived by two sons, Marvin and Paul Bailey; brother, Raymond Bailey; sister, Lucille Garrett; grandchildren, Jeff Bailey, Kim Anderson, Kristen Baum, Rhonda Trebley, and Shawn Bailey; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Stirling-Gerber Chapel.
He was buried in New Palestine Cemetery.
