Son of Fred and Mary Hrencher Ricke. He was the first of seven children.He attended school in Sharon, KS; however, he had to quit school early so that he could work and support the family when his father became ill.He married Miss Flora Cecilia Schmidt, the daughter of Eugene and Mary Karlin Schmidt, on March 26, 1940. They had nine children; four sons, Allan, Gary, Cletus, and Myron, and five daughters, Ellen, Dianne, Kay, Sharon, and Annette. He was a farmer and measured land for Harper, Barber and Ford Counties in Kansas. He was a member of St Andrews Catholic Church, Wright, KS, was a past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Wright, and was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Dodge City. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 45 years of the home, Flora; sons, Allan and Gary - both of Dodge City, and Cletus and Myron of Wright; daughters, Ellen Drouhard of Argonia, KS, Annette Burhart, of Spearville, KS, Dianne Durler, of Wright, Kay Herrmann, of Dodge City, and Sharon Ricke of Great Bend, KS; brothers, S J Ricke, of Spivey, KS, and Wilfred Ricke of Medicine Lodge, Catherine Dick of Sharon, KS, Marie Drier of Olpe, KS, Mildred Ketzner of Yamhill, OR, and Lorena Angell of Medicine Lodge; and fourteen grandchildren.
