Notes: There is always a chance that death dates are incorrect or dates are incorrect on gravestone. Also, I found it interesting that they left for Iowa from Ohio after the 1850 census was taken in October. I also find it interesting that the child Charles dies in 1831 and in Ohio and also Ann who dies in 1848 in Ohio are now buried here at Farlow. It was "uncommon" in those days to move bodies and bring the gravestones with them….but it is always possible. Another thought is a lot of folks who were farmers just buried their dead on their property and I guess if you are leaving your farm for another state .........I would probably take them with me if I could too...:)
Research on child Emma born in 1849:
In the 1856 Iowa State census for Lancaster, Keokuk Co. she is living with her father's sister Priscilla Beery Hillis and she is age 7 born in Iowa?.
In the 1860 Census of Lancaster, Keokuk Co., Iowa she is age 12, born in Ohio and living with R. W. Hillis and his wife Priscilla who is a sister to Jesse G. Berry.
In the 1870 census of Kansas City Ward 2, Jackson County, Missouri Emma is still living with R. W. Hillis and his wife Priscilla (sister to Emma father Jesse G.) Emma is now age 22 born in Ohio and now known as EMMA HILLIS!!!!
