Theodore F. Kapke of Gladstone, Nebr., next to the oldest man in Jefferson county, passed away Friday, March 1, 1946, at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Theodore Frank Kapke was born October 5, 1849 in Polcen, Germany, where he was baptized and confirmed. In 1871 he came to the United States and on January 9, 1877 he married Augusta Streich at LaSalle, Ill. To them were born 12 children, four sons, one daughter and one grandchild preceding him in death. Mrs. Kapke passed away November 24, 1928.
In 1884 he came to the Gladstone, Nebraska vicinity and since 1919 made his home in Gladstone, the past few years with his daughter, Mrs. Mike Michels.
He is survived by four sons, William of Fairbury, August of Jansen and Henry and Charles of Gladstone; by three daughters, Augusta, Mrs. Harry Flagle and Emma, Mrs. Mike Michels, both of Gladstone, and Martha, Mrs. Frank Beiderman of Mission, Kansas; by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Zion's Ev. and Reformed church, east of Gladstone with Rev. Alex Greeb, pastor and Rev. Henry Henning of Western, officiating. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Darrell, Dwight, Walter and Elmer Kapke, Norman Schroeder and Loren Lewis. Burial in the church cemetery.
