Ethel Hedwig Anna Juenke was the daughter of Christian Juenke and Anna Emilie Augusta Benz.
Ethel married John J Barsness on September 24, 1921 in Cass Lake, Minnesota. They had two children: Raymond L; and Beverly Ann Barsness. They also raised Lois Marie Barsness, who's mother Edna died when she was 1 year old. Edna and Ethel were sisters.

Obit in "The Pioneer" on page #2 Oct. 12, 1993 and reads as follows:
"Ethel Barsness, 90, of Cass Lake died Friday, Oct. 8, 1993, at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bemidji.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cass Lake, with arrangements by the Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home of Cass Lake.
Mrs. Barsness was born June 15, 1903, in Hubbard County and lived most of her life in the Cass Lake area. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cass Lake.
She is survived by a son, Raymond L. of Twin Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Beverly (Jim) Bergeron of Astoria, Ore., and Lois (Max) Meyers of Bemidji; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother Roland Juenke of Missoula, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1975.
