Pernell E. Roberts, Sr., 73, died Saturday afternoon in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Roberts was the father of Pernell Roberts, well known stage, television and film star. His son is presently starring in "Trapper John, M.D." and was one of original stars of the television hit series "Bonanza".
He was a native of Wilcox County, son of the late Reason Roberts and Alice Stone Roberts.
He had made his home in Waycross since 1925 and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Big Brothers Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Roberts, Waycross; one son, Pernell E. Roberts, Jr., Beverly Hills, Calif.,; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kara Knack, Hollywood, Calif.; one brother, Glenn Roberts, Waycross; one grandson, Chris Roberts, New York, NY.
Memorial service will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge.
