She married Lewis William Allsop and they were the parents of six children (the youngest son Clyde died at birth). They raised their family in Draper, Utah and after retirement they moved to Ivins, Utah.
Dorothy was a shining example of motherhood to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She exemplified the words: Family, Love, Obedience, Testimony, Hard Work, Endurance, Service, Laughter and Music. She lived by her favorite scripture: Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths". She had a favorite picture of Jesus Christ hanging on her bedroom wall so she could look at it each morning as she awoke and each night as she went to sleep. Her testimony of the Savior was her foundation. We know there was a joyous reunion for her as she left this existence and returned to the arms of the Lord and her husband and son Chick who preceded her in death.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Ann & Arnold Peart, Bill & Vivian Allsop, Eileen Allsop, Edna & Lynn Henke and Reed and Diane Allsop, a sister Louise Young, a brother Earl Matheson and his wife Gayle. Also in-laws, Mary Matheson, Robert and Ruth Allsop, Flora and Lafe Case, Reed and Elaine Babcock, Rula and Jim Dickson. She leaves behind a large posterity of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces all of whom love her very dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m., at the Ivins LDS Chapel, 260 East 1060 South, Ivins, Utah. Friends may call at the Metcalf Funeral Home, 288 W. St. George Blvd, Friday, 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be at the Ivins City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221.
