Age 59, of Lake Station, passed away Sat., Feb 17, 1999. He was born June 23,1959 in Clay county, AL, the son of Barney L. & Mildred "Marie" (PRYBYSZ) Abernathy. He was a retired painter & truck driver and served inthe U.S.Army. He is survived by his former wife, special friend and caregiver, June GARRIGUES of Lake Station; 1 stepson, Lynn (Lou Marie) Branshaw of South Haven; 2 stepdaughters, Doris (Dennis) Crawford of Miller, Michele Galindo of Lake Station; 11 step-grandchildren; 1 sister, Vinnie Sue (Ed) Woodard of Wanatah; 2 half-brothers, Jimmy Abernathy of Missouri & Randy Abernathy of Illinois; 1 half-sister; Wanda (Richard) Wolf of Illinois; many nieces, nephews and couins; 1 brother-in-law, Dan Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Marie Jenkins. Funeral services Tuesday, March 2, 1999, 11a.m. at Engel funeral Home. Interment McCool Cemetery, Portage.
