He was mustered out on 6 March 1862 in Beaufort, South Carolina. In June 1863, he registered for the draft while living in Jackson County. In 1864, Timothy was taxed as a "peddler first class."
On 15 June 1880, Timothy lived in Columbia, Jackson County with wife Nancy, daughter Nellie, and mother Chloe. He was working as an undertaker.
He applied for an invalid pension and received it on 25 November 1889. In 1890, he lived in Columbia, Jackson County. Timothy died on 1 April 1900 in Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan from pneumonia. He is buried in Highland Cemetery in Brooklyn, Jackson County, Michigan. Timothy's widow Nancy E. Ambler received a widow's pension on 17 May 1900.
