Waldron Jane Couzens Waldron, 92, of Boise passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006. Jane was born on May 17, 1914 to Jeremiah and Minnie Couzens on a farm in Star, Idaho. She grew up helping her dad milk cows and clear the land for crops. She often told stories and wrote poems of the ÒDays on the Farm.Ó THE BIB OVERALLS By Jane Waldron I was born in nineteen fourteen, and sometimes I fear That I was born in the wrong time and year Every young girl has some secret cross to bear. Mine was the bib overalls I had to wear. They were a size too big and bagged in the seat. I wore them to the barn and not on the street. I didn´t mind milking the cows to help my Dad. ÔTwas getting back and forth to the barn that was so bad. I wanted so much for the neighbor boys not to see me. I prayed to be invisible or to become a bug or bee. Please, turn me into a grasshopper or maybe a mouse. Long enough, Lord, to get me to the barn from the house. I would have given those overalls away for free. So its difficult for me to believe what I see. Here is what has really taken me back, As I entered the shop and there on the rack, Bib overalls like the ones I had to wear. I glanced at the tag---twenty some dollars! It just is not fair! During the depression, the family moved to Boise, where Jane worked at the Old Natatorium. There were more stories about roller skating at the rink and riding the roller coaster backwards at midnight. She then began work at S. H. Kress Store, working there until 1941, when she married Gordon Waldron. Her daughter, Karen, was born in 1942. Although her marriage did not last, Jane was blessed with a caring, extended family. She and Karen enjoyed many happy times with Grandma and Granddaddy Couzens, Aunt Louise and Uncle Bob, and their children Bobby Lou and Dick. Jane worked at the Boise Police Department, Idaho Law Enforcement and the Idaho Treasury Office. She was a loyal and hard-working public employee, retiring at 60. She was a passionate Democrat, always fighting for the underdog. Upon retiring, she loved ballroom dancing, as well as reading, writing poetry and genealogy. She was proud to be a third-generation Idahoan and learned as much as she could about her ancestors and their travels in a covered wagon from Missouri in the 1860s. Jane will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her positive attitude and her empathy for those in need. She developed many close friendships throughout the years. A special thanks to Carol Morgan and Karen Purdy, whose support and friendship is so appreciated. Without their help Jane would not have been able to stay in her north-end home as long as she did. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hutchison (Richard) of Star, Idaho, her grandson, Andrew Hutchison (Isabel), her great granddaughter Katelyn Jane, her brother-in-law, Robert Gaddie, her nieces, Roberta Myers and Mary DeChant (Clark), nephews, Richard Gaddie, and Paul Couzens (Ardyth), great nephews, Michael Myers, Dan Myers (Kris), Willie Couzens, great-niece, Marilyn Robbins and the great-great-nieces and nephews, Madison, Max, Britney, Aiden, Hannah and Kent. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremiah and Minnie Couzens, her brother, Samuel Couzens, her sister, Louise Gaddie, sister-in-law Lois Couzens, nephew John Couzens, nephew-in-law, George Myers.
