Adel Bennett, born May 14, 1953 in Louisville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at her residence. A pharmacist for Schnuck's Market, she graduated from Butler University, where she became a member of Tri-Delta, in 1976. She had previously worked for Rite Aid and Walgreen's. She was a member of the Indiana Pharmacy Alliance and the Southwestern Indiana Pharmaceutical Association. Adel is survived by her husband, Harvey Bennett; sister, Patti Denton; brother-in-law, Jon Bennett and wife, Pat; brother-in-law, Eric Bennett and wife, Ginny; brother-in-law, Larry Bennett; niece, Andrea Martinez and husband, John; nephews, Marshall and Tyler Bennett and her four-legged children, Brooke, Lois, and Wu. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Clarence and Betty Denton. Adel was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, her extended family, actively working on the Called to Care Committee, Angel Tree Society, Mary Martha Circle and as a former Stephen Ministry Leader and Deacon. She enjoyed helping out with Bible School and the rummage sales. A board member of the Vanderburgh Humane Society, she served as secretary for many years as well as working on various committees and fundraisers. She was also involved in Evansville Children's Theatre, serving in various years as grant writer, secretary, treasurer, and president. Tennis, exercising, gardening, cooking, traveling, taking care of her cats, mall walking, and being open to new opportunities for learning and serving were all important parts of her living life to the fullest. The family wishes to thank Dr. Schwartz and the Bone Marrow Team at I.U. Hospital, Dr. Fox and the great staff at OHA, 5100 Deaconess Hospital and Deaconess Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care and concern during Adel's battle with Leukemia. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 3601 Washington Ave., Evansville, IN, officiated by Kendal Brown. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Friends may visit Friday, May 19, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Alexander East Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Church UCC Angel Tree Society, Vanderburgh Humane Society, The Marrow Foundation, 400 Seventh St., NW Suite 205, Washington, DC 20004, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 941 E. 86th St. Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
