Daisy Black Austin, 89, formerly of Leicester, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002, in Knoxville, TN, where she had resided with her daughter for the past year.
Mrs. Austin was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James Berry and Flora Rogers Duckett. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Black and Kelsie Austin; a daughter, Sue Brown a grandson, Richard Teague and a step-daughter, Margaret Austin Johnson. She was a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Mabel Black and Denver Teague of Knoxville, Ines Black and Leroy Norton of Candler, and Grace Black and Doyle Reeves of Leicester; one son, Reeves Black and wife, Aileen, of Charleston, SC; three step-sons and their wives, Harold and Louise Austin, James and Carolyn Austin and William and Grace Austin; three step-daughters and their husbands, Joanne and J.B. Norton, Helen and Steve Cockran and Christine and Fred Hamilton; a step son-in-law, Claude Johnson; one brother, Marshall Duckett and wife, Pauline, of Leicester; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a number of step- grandchildren.
Revs. Billy Gillespie and Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Big Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery.
