Early Settler J. Couzens, 80, Dies in Boise
Jeremiah Couzens, 80, of 1908 North Fifteenth street, a pioneer Boise resident and retired farmer, died Saturday morning in a Boise hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Couzens was born Jan. 13, 1874, near Ogden, Utah, and moved with his parents to the Boise valley in 1881. He was married July 28, 1908, to Minnie Lawrence Justus of Star and the couple farmed near Star for a number of years. They moved to Boise in 1932 and he was engaged in team work until he retired in 1952.
He was a member of Immanuel Methodist church.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Couzens are a son, Sam Couzens of Star; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Gaddie and Mrs. Jane Waldron, both of Boise; a brother, William Couzens of La Grande, Ore., and six grandchildren.
Summers chapel is arranging services.
