Grace is the wife of Guy Carlton Burroughs. She came to the Sheldon/Channelview area by wagon. She was an excellent quilter and cook. WE visited anut Grace and uncle Guy quite often, at least once a week. Aunt Grace always had cookies baked and in the cookie jar just waiting for us to eat them up. I remember eating fried chicken and squash all the time. She said she couldn't believe such a little girl loved squash like I did. They had chickens that used to chase us in the yard...especially the roosters! I used to go with her or uncle guy in the hen house to gather eggs. They still had an out house they used and I remember having to use it too. When I spent the night with the other cousins, we would have to use a chamber pot or go out in the dark to use the bathroom! I still have a little stuffed dog she sewed for me. Everyone loved her so much! She was a special lady! She was the mother of 4 sons and 1 daughter.
