KEANSBURG--Clifton Abbott, 71, of 199 Myrtle ave., here, died yesterday at Riverview hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Abbott was born in Lakewood, son of the late John and Lucy Johnson Abbott. A resident of Red Bank many years, Mr. Abbott had lived here five years. Until his retirement five years ago he was a brakeman on the Jersey Central railroad.

Mr. Abbott was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Brakemen, an exEmpt member of the Relief Engine company of Red Bank and a former member of the Red Bank Elks. His wife, Margaretta S. Brooks Abbott, died Aug. 24, 1952.

surviving is a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Voelkel, Union, and a great-grandson, Robert R. Voelkel.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Worden funeral home, with Rev. Charles H. Best, rector of Trinity Episcopal church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, West Long Branch.

Firemen will hold services tonight at 8 o'clock at the funeral.
