Sheboygan Press – August 10, 1965

William H. Last, 77, of 122 E. Pierce Street, Port Washington, Chief of the Port Washington Fire Department for 23 years, died at 4 a.m. today at St. Alphonsus Hospital. He suffered a stroke two weeks ago.

He was born in the Town of Grafton, March 7, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Last, and was married to Johanna Schmitz of the Town of Grafton. She died in August 1933.

Surviving are two sons, Arnold and Harold, both of Port Washington; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter, Milwaukee, and August, Port Washington, and three sisters, Mrs. Dora Thielke, Grafton, and Mrs. Helen Kibbel and Mrs. Leonard Diddier, both of Port Washington.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington, with the Rev. Christopher Boland of Frieden's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m., Wednesday, to the hour of services.
