Francis Marion Hunter was the son of William and Maria Spainhour Hunter. he and two of his brothers Robert Hill Hunter and A.C. Hunter joined the Confederacy. They joined Col. Upton Hays Regt. 2 days before the "Battle of Lone Jack". When Hays died at Newtonia, the unit left the command of Col. William Quantrill and joined up with Price & Shelby. After the war the brothers came west. They lived in California, Nevada and finally came to Mosier, Oregon in Wasco County. Robert & Frank were cherry Orchardists. Frank married Mary Evelinah Evans on 7 Nov 1872. 2 children were born Hattie and Price. when he died in 1945, he left to mourn, his 2 children, 19 grandchildren and 18 great grand children. He was 99 years, 9 months and 25 days old.
