Hickray Arrow Walter was born in Marshall County, Iowa, 1891, to Josiah Walter (1858 – 1931) and wife Minerva "Belle" (Miller) Walter (1868 – 1961) - and he had four siblings, though one is unknown.
Hickray married Beulah (born about 1912), and they had two children. Hickray and Beulah married about 1935; his education is listed as elementary school, 4th grade; Beulah's is listed as 7th grade. Hickray was a farmer who owned his home. He served and survived World War I; his registration says he had blue eyes and red hair. By 1935, he is listed on census in Washington County, Tennessee with his own family, and where he lived until his burial in 1963, at age 72 years.
