ADAMS, Paulette Jeanne (M.D.) - Paulette passed away on March 23, 2007 at the age of 55 at her home in Calistoga after a courageous year and a half battle with ovarian cancer.

She leaves behind her husband, and two daughters, who will miss her dearly.

Born November 19, 1951 in Oakland to the late Robert Eugene Adams and Raymonde Weil, Paulette was raised in El Cerrito and attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1973. She received an MD degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She was board certified in family medicine with a subspecialty in geriatrics. She completed her residency at Community Hospital in Santa Rosa, and began practicing medicine in Calistoga in 1980.

Paulette enjoyed serving the Calistoga community for 20 years as a family physician. She ended her career at the Veteran's Home in Yountville, working there from 1998 until earlier this year, when illness finally forced her to leave. Paulette was an active member of the California Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP), and served as president of the CAFP in 1997-8, advocating for patients' rights, being a role model for physicians pursuing Family Medicine as a career. She played a leadership role throughout her career and exemplified the importance of balancing practice obligations with family life. An avid traveler and cyclist, the highlights of her many excursions were a 400-mile trip from Calistoga to Santa Barbara to attend Martine's college graduation and a bike tour across New Zealand. Throughout her life Paulette had a passion for music, playing the guitar and the mandolin. She was an active member of the St. Helena Catholic Church folk choir for many years.

She will forever be remembered and missed by her family, friends and the communities she served as a woman of great strength, courage, and love. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helena Catholic Church, St. Helena.

The Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m. also at St. Helena Catholic Church, under the direction of the Claffey And Rota Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the California Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, and especially to the St. Helena Catholic School, which educated her daughters and whose members have provided endless support to Paulette and her family.
