ELKHART - Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel (Grannie) Easley, 90, of Rt. 3, Elkhart, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hassell & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Buddy Neal and M.T. Blackmon officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrim Cemetery.

Mrs. Easley died Wednesday, Apr 18, 1984, at Elkhart Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 13, 1894, a daughter of John Cross and Ladora Crenshaw Cross. A lifelong resident of Anderson County, she was a member of Rocky Mound Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Elender Munsinger, Cora Mae Hamby, Flora Thompson, and Linnie Lawson Lingo, all of Elkhart, and Lora Boren of Irving; four sons, Wesley Lawson and Henry Lawson, both of Elkhart, Ernest Lawson of Irving, and Lee Lawson of Palestine; 41 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; 30 step-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Condolence calls will be received at the Easley residence, Rt. 3, Elkhart.

Rachel Cross was first married to Timothy Jeremiah Lawson. Later she married Hubert C. Steadman (1882 - 1958), then Ira Gibson Easley (1893 - 1976). She is buried beside Hubert Steadman.
