U.S. Congressman. He attended Phillips Academy Massachusetts, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1875 and practiced law in Curwensville, Pennsylvania. In 1895, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and Fifty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1899. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 54 while on a business trip to Michigan.
