United States Army Sergeant served with Company D 2/502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. He began his tour of duty on July 13, 1969 and at age 25 he was killed in action from multiple fragmentation wounds while serving in Thua Thien, South Vietnam. His name is etched on Panel 11W - Row 10 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. James is survived his father Fred L Tyner, brothers, Terry, Ken, John, Frank and a sister Sandra Cordell. James rests next to his mother Rose Tyner and brother Fred H Tyner.
