F. Margaret Barnes

F. Margaret Barnes, 89, died May 4, 2004 after a brief illness.

Born June 12, 1914 in Richland Center, she was the third child of Carl and Winnie Barnes.

Margaret graduated from the University of Wisconsin and then enrolled at National College at Evanston, Ill. for her kindergarten teacher credentials.

She moved to California in 1943 where she taught kindergarten in the Brea school district. In 1946 she moved to Pasadena and was employed as a kindergarten teacher in the Pasadena School District.

She received her Masters Degree from Whittier College in 1958. At the time of her retirement she was a kindergarten teacher at the Luther Burbank School, where she was recently honored as one of the most outstanding teachers.

Margaret had a reputation as a loving and caring kindergarten teacher. She excelled at her hobby – playing the organ – and was known to organ clubs throughout Southern California. She also enjoyed traveling the world.

Margaret had a love for purple and blue. She was an avid Lakers fan.

Although she had no surviving family, she will be greatly missed by her dear friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Barnes and Catherine Shannon.

Internment will be in Richland Center Cemetery in the family plot.
