Church services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at St. Josephs Church for Vicenta Garcia, 78, who passed away May 27, 2002 with her daughters at her side. Internment will follow immediately at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, May 31 at Hillcrest Mortuary, 2-6 p.m.
Vicenta was born in Buena Park, California on April 5, 1924 to Angela Aldana and Felipe Huerta. The family moved to Buttonwillow, California when Vicenta was a young girl and at 17, she married Cayetano Garcia, her husband of 57 years until his passing in 2000.
Vicenta was a homemaker all her life. She loved tending her rose garden, cleaning her home and cooking delicious Mexican meals for her family. She was proud of her children and all that they achieved. Together with Cayetano, she created a home filled with love and laughter and wonderful memories that her family will cherish.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Cayetano, her beloved son Daniel, her faithful sister Eloise Carrizales and her adored mother Angela. She leaves behind six daughters: Aurora Catania, Penny Garcia, Margaret Ritorto, Rosemary Moreno, Adela Abdul and Tina Garcia. She also leaves behind loving sons-in-law, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many life long friends.
Pallbearers will be Robert Catania, Carlos Moreno, Nick Ritorto, Michael Ritorto, Carlo Moreno, Daniel Garcia and Jeff Wiebe.
Our family is grateful to our sister Aurora who stayed by Moms side through the last two years to ensure that Mom received the best care possible. We also want to thank Dr. Catania for his guidance and concern.
Let Daddy take you by the hand, Mom, to dance forever with him in Heaven.
