Bowling recorded a few songs himself but was never popular in country music as a singer but only as a songwriter. He recorded a song called "The Yellow Pages" which made it in the top twenty country music charts. He later released a song called "A Little Bit Of Heaven" which barely peaked in the music charts. He became friends with a lot of country music stars which some attended his funeral. Tammy Wynette was one of the stars who attended the funeral. Tammy's husband, George Richey who is also a well known songwriter and a long time friend was also at the funeral services.
