Edna M. Lautenschlager, 78, of Palmer died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island.

Mrs. Lautenschlager was born Aug. 29, 1928 at Dannebrog to Thomas and Nellie (Wilson) Reimers.

She was preceded in death by a son, Louis Lautenschlager.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Leonard; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Leonard Lautenschlager Jr., Leslie and Charlene Lautenschlager and Larry Lautenschlager, all of Palmer; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lois Bright of Grand Junction, Colo., Lila and LeRoy Ostendorf of Gothenburg, Leolla and Jim Davis of St. Libory and LaNell and Russ Bateman of Kremmling, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Julie Lautenschlager of st. Libory; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Rosetta Reimers of Grand Island and Thomas and Kathleen Reimers of O'Neill; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Arnold Kyhn of Boelus and Jessie and David Kiser of Dannebrog.

Additional survivors include 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She grew up and was educated in rural Dannebrog. She enjoyed working with the horses and mules on the family farm southeast of Dannebrog.

On Dec. 10, 1946, she married Leonard Lautenschlager at Palmer. They resided on the Lautenschlager family farm, where they farmed and she was a homemaker until her death.

She enjoyed her family, gardening, canning, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and twice served as president of the Jolly Wives Club.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deb Lautenschlager; two infant brothers; and a sister, Dora Jean Fries.
