NEW PLYMOUTH
A train guard, Samuel Victor Kiddie, aged 41, a married man with two children, was killed during shunting operations at Waitara yesterday morning while preparing a train for Lepperton. He was riding on the front of an engine and is believed to have been crossing to the opposite side when he fell. The driver and fireman were not aware of anything till they felt a bump. The body was dragged for about 68 yards
