Rona was born in Norfolk Island, daughter of Fletcher Evelyn Quintal (1868-1953) & Alice Abigail Nobbs (1877-1959). Her father Fletcher, was L/Sergeant in the 8th Company, New South Wales Imperial Bushmen. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1903 in the British Yeomanry. He gained the rank of Trooper in 1914 in the 6th Australian Light Horse. He fought in the Gallipoli Campaign in April 1915, where he was wounded, losing an eye. In 1946 he served as an escort to the Duke of Gloucester during the Duke's visit to Norfolk Island.

** Rona's father Fletcher Quintal was a grandson of Rev George Hunn Hobbs via his mother Ann Naomi Nobbs.
** Rona's mother Alice Abigail Nobbs was a granddaughter of Rev George Hunn Nobbs via his son James Wingate Johnstone Nobbs

Rona's first husband & children ...
Rona had first married William McCracken, a ships steward for the McIlwraith McEacharn Shipping Line, in 1920 in Sydney & had 2 children. A son, Robert Evelyn Ross (Ross Evelyn Woodward 1920-2011) & a daughter Betty (1923-). William deserted his family about 1923 and Rona divorced him in Sydney before moving back to Norfolk Island.
Rona next married John Fox Rogers in 1931. Her son Ross was formally adopted by her sister, Emily Ann (Qunital 1903-1982) and her husband John Thomas William Henry 'Jack' Westwood (1904-1969) on 23 Aug 1938

JOHN FOX-ROGERS was born 25 April 1877 in High St., Lathbury, Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire to B. Fox (1849-) & Catherine Ann (1849-) Rogers. He served as 1st Class Gunner 875, with the Royal New Zealand Artillery, Permanent Force from 9 Feb 1899 when he enlisted from Inglewood. He was in clerical duties from Feb 1900 and in March 1902 he requested advancement but was told there were no vacancies. He was discharged at his own request in Dec 1902. He married Rose Elizabeth Maslen (1876-1907) in 1901, a daughter of George Thomas James Maslen (1824-1922) & Harriet Ann Spencer (1847-1927). Rose is buried at Karori, Wellington
