Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Bell, 78, of Rt. 2, Elkhart, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home chapel, the Rev, Curtis A. Grissett officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories cemetery, Elkhart.

Mrs. Bell died Monday morning in Anderson County Memorial Hospital.

The former Gladys Aline Bowdoin, she was born in Elkhart Dec. 22, 1903, a daughter of Arthur Daniel Bowdoin and Mary Edna Gammage Bowdoin. Before retiring in 1977, she was a beautician for 53 years and formerly operated the Be Neat Beauty Shop on Queen and West Lacy Streets in Palestine. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elkhart.

Survivors include a brother, W. Odell Bowdoin of Palestine; two sisters, Emma Hazel Bell of Palestine and Edna Muriel Jones of Elkhart; an aunt, Lillie Gammage of Elkhart; four stepchildren, Iva Pearl Melton of Mesquite, Rex Bell of Dallas, Carol Thompson and Jerry Lou Bailey of Stephenville; 10 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.,

Cousins will serve as pallbearers.
