Edward J. Ohleyer, 78, Indianapolis, passed away October 26, 2006. Mr. Ohleyer was born May 15, 1928, in Indianapolis to the late John and Loretta Ohleyer. Mr. Ohleyer was a partner in the Indianapolis law firm of Ice Miller Donadio & Ryan until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Ohleyer practiced with the firm 40 years, specializing in Workers Compensation. He was considered the leading expert in the State in his field and authored many articles and gave numerous seminars on the subject.
Mr. Ohleyer served many years on the Character and Fitness Committee of the Indiana Supreme Court. He was a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation and in 1992 was awarded Sagamore of the Wabash and was the recipient of the Hoosier Heritage Award. Mr. Ohleyer served many years on the Workers Compensation Committee of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the Indiana American Bar Association, Columbia Club, and the Skyline Club. In addition, he was a member of Harbour Trees Country Club in Noblesville, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally. Survivors include; sister, Carol Phillips, sisters-in-law, Sondra Wellman (Richard), Cecilia Cornelius, Carol Hutton (David), Melissa Mates (Michael), brothers-in-law, David Cornelius (Maureen), John Cornelius (Ellen) and several nieces and nephews. He was the son-in-law to the late Philip and Cecilia Cornelius. The family wishes to thank the staff at Marquette Manor Health Care Center for their love and concern in caring for Eddie.
