Bruce Arlington Phillips, 80, of Tolland, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Evergreen Health Center in Stafford Springs.

He was born June 21, 1937, in Hartford, the son of the late Howard and Esther (Peterson) Phillips. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a member of the NRA, and a Mason. He was also a member of The American Legion, Buck-Dubiel Post 101 Somers, and a wildlife enthusiast.

Bruce is survived by his longtime partner, Phyllis Proteau; two daughters, Janice Phillips and Lori Gibbons and her husband, Mark; two sons, Brian Phillips and his wife, Wendy, and Thomas Phillips; two brothers, David Phillips and his wife, Amy, and Kerry Phillips; four sisters, Carol Czajka and her husband, Louie, Donna Gamache, Linda Bennet, and Janet Field. He also leaves several grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Monday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
