Married Elizabeth Ann Nall, purportedly in Hokes Bluff, Etowah Co, Alabama, in January 1846, 1847, or 1848.

Eleven children, two born in Alabama, and the rest in Arkansas:

He was a Civil War veteran, having served as a teamster in Co. B, 19th Ark. Inf. Regt. CSA. He and half of his regiment was captured at Arkansas Post on Jan. 11, 1863, imprisoned at Camp Douglas, Ill., and then exchanged at City Point, Va., in May 1863.
