Christine Mortenson was born November 11, 1873 to Morten and Anna (Anderson) Olson in Sogndal, Norway. In 1891, Christine, her brother Ole Mortenson, and her mother came to America to be with the rest of her family. When her sister, Emma, passed away, she married Emma's husband, Ommund E. Oftedahl on October 18, 1901, in order to care for the children.
They sold the Grandview Farm in Vernon County, Wisconsin, and moved to Dawson, Minnesota. There she gave birth to eight children, Joseph Melford, Russell Bernhard, Lloyd Vernon, Elmer Martin, Myrtle Ardace Evangeline, Earl Stanley, Doris Evelyn, and Lawrence Raymond.
They later moved to Nobleton, Wisconsin (Long Lake) and a son, Kenneth Ferman was born there.
They then purchased a good farm at Loveland Corners, on Highway 48 northeast of Rice Lake, where they built a good brick home.
Christine was a devout Christian, and influenced many lives for the Lord Jesus Christ. I was saved as a direct result of her witness.
