Edith Webb was born in Missouri (the show me state)and came as a young woman to live with her uncle and aunt Benjamin & Nancy Newell in Brook Indiana. They sent Edith to a bookeeping school in Lafayette Indiana and she worked as a stenographer for a Purdue University professor after graduation. She married Howard Griggs on Christmas Eve 1914. They had two daughters: Martha Louise born 5/29/1916 and Dora Alma born 1/25/1919.

The year following Howard's death, Edith went to Florida for her health and met and married Arthur M. Beers from Wesington Springs South Dakota. They Bought a new home near Sulpher Springs in north Tampa where they lived for many years before he passed on and was interred in his beloved Wesington Springs.

Edith lived alone and independantly until Dora came to live with her where for many years she continued to do all her own cooking, cleaning, gardening and shopping. She was especially fond of fried chicken.

Edith spent her last four years in a nursing home in Bradenton Florida. Both Howard and Edith are buried in Plainfield Cemetary in Macy Indiana.
