Pembroke -Miss Melissa Faye Arthur, 17, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from injuries sustained in a car accident. She lived in Pembroke for over 6 years, was a junior at Bryan County High School, and was a member of Pembroke United Methodist Church. Melissa served as counselor to her friends, loved poetry, enjoyed drawing and painting, and especially loved dolphins. Survivors include her father and mother Derrick Wade and Sherry Arthur of Pembroke; paternal grandparents Clifford and Catherine Arthur of Ithaca, NY; maternal grandparents Jesse and Brenda France of Pembroke; great-grandmother Opal France of Louisa, KY; aunts Irene Tuttle, Phyllis Hall, and Sherry Newton; uncles Scott Arthur, Jason Martin, Jack Martin, Steven Martin, Joseph France, and Bruce Hall; and several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held for former teachers and classmates from 4-6 P.M. Saturday and for general public from 6-9 P.M. Saturday. Funeral service will be 3 P.M. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Pembroke with Rev. Dan Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Ash Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
