Catherine E. (Smail) Klingensmith, 83, of Gilpin, died at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin. Born Aug. 14, 1921, in Georgetown, Gilpin, she was a 1939 graduate of Leechburg High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Forks-Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gilpin, and the Gilpin Homemakers. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Mrs. Klingensmith is survived by a son, Thomas E. Klingensmith of Gilpin; daughter, Mrs. Ruth (John) Rich of Kiski Township; two brothers, Alfred (Nancy) Smail of Decatur, Ill., and Clifford (Donna) Smail of Gilpin; a sister, Pauline Pearson of Grove City; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Klingensmith, who died March 28, 2004; her parents, Paul O. and Maria E. (Klingensmith) Smail; a brother, Homer "Bud" Smail; a sister, Marion Shearer; and a grandson, Joseph Dean Wilds Jr. Friends will be welcomed by her family on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at CLAWSON'S, Second at Main, Leechburg, where funeral ceremonies will be held Monday at 12 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Kevin E. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
