He was a former resident of Van Buren, was a truck driver, and was a member of the Yucca Valley Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife, Helen Acord; two daughters, Sandra Diggs of Franklinton and Rhonda Verbene of Kentwood, Louisiana; one stepson, Raymond Buchanan of Yucca Valley; one sister, Imogene Williams of Pomona, California; three brothers, Hartsel Acord of Fort Smith, and Uldene Acord and Herschel Acord both of Dermott, Arkansas; and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Funeral rites for Billy Wayne Acord, 50, of Yucca Valley, California, former resident of Dyer, will be held at 1 PM today at the Ocker Memorial Chapel with the Rev Lester Nye officiating. Burial will be in the Dyer Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home. Mr Acord, who died Tuesday at a Franklinton, Louisiana, hospital, was a truck driver and attended the Yucca Valley Assembly of God Church.
