GM2 Jared D. Krutke, 24, of Sheboygan died while serving his country with the US Navy in Guam on Thursday, March 15, 200. Jared was born on November 13, 1982 in Sheboygan, the son of Gary Krutke and Jacqueline (Gibson) Krutke Walston. Jared attended the Evangelical Free Church with his family during the years that he grew up. Jared graduated from Sheboygan County Christian High School in 2001. On December 21, 2002 Jared married the former Nicole Veldboom of Oostburg. Jared joined the US Navy in August of 2001 and served up until the time of his death. He was a gunners mate on the ships, USS Detroit AOE4 and the USS Ashland LSD48. He was proud to have been able to serve his country. Jared attended the Handsboro Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS and the Calvary Chapel in Guam. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, and star gazing while on his ship assignments. Jared was a "big kid at heart" and still enjoyed Legos and Star Wars. He was loved by all who knew him, an optimist, and always willing to help those in need.
