History - George became a convert to the Mormon faith in Kirkland, Ohio and spent the winter of 1837-1838 repairing wagons for the brethern who were moving from Ohio to Missouri. He followed the Church to Missouri and Illinois.
In 1842, he married Mary Ellen Johnson who became the mother of two sons. She died in 1845.
During the exodus from Nauvoo and the journey of the Saints westward, George Wilson enlisted in the Mormon Battalion Company "E," but on account of sickness was sent with Lt. Willis's company to winter in Pueblo. He arrived in Salt Lake Valley in late July, 1847.
Mr. Wilson located at Santaquin where he married Martha Ann Risto in 1856. Afterwards he moved to Sanpete County and then located in Millard County. He took an active part in the Black Hawk wars.
In 1867, Mr. Wilson went to the Muddy as a colonization missionary and, after his release from this duty, settled in Panguitch. He was residing in Hillsdale, Utah when he passed away.
