She was the third of six children born to Roy Cline Scott, Sr. and Corda Faye Dowell. On May 19, 1939 she was married to Chester Earl McCabe in Stockton, CA. They had three son together:

Roemaine R. McCabe, age 82, of Ballwin, MO, died Monday, May 16, 2005. A memorial service was held at the Teahen Funeral Home. Graveside services were held in Alta Vista Cemetery, Alta Vista, KS.
Roemaine is survived by three sons, Kevin of Marshalltown, IA, Dr. Lloyd (Jane Anne) of Waupun, WI, and R.C. (Colleen) McCabe of Ballwin, MO; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Meghan, Michael, Katie, Ben and Julia; one great-grandchild, Moira; and a brother, Roy Cline Scott, and sister, Henrietta "Yetty" Conwell, both of Denver, CO.
Roemaine was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; two brothers, Earl Meyers and Clayton Scott; and grandson, Ryan McCabe.
Romaine was born June 30, 1922, in Alta Vista, KS, the daughter of Roy and Corda Dowell Scott. She was married to Chester McCabe and worked as an employment counselor for many years. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
