She was born on February 4, 1929 in Half Rock, MO the daughter of Wade Hampton and Helen Mildred (Gibson) Stanturf.
On April 3, 1947 she married James Richard “J.R.” Brown in Troy, KS. He preceded her in death.
Joy went to Half Rock Country School and later graduated from Princeton High School in 1946. She enjoyed cake baking, making candy, looking after her grandchildren and children, as well as gardening and canning. She was a member of the Modena Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Brown; sister, Nelda Hobbs; and brother, William Stanturf.
Survivors include her sons, Stan (Andrea) Brown, Bethany, MO, Terry (Kelly) Brown, Princeton, MO; 9 grandchildren, Eric (Connie) Brown, Mt. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at the First Christian Church, Princeton, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, MO. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church where friends may call after 9:00 a.m.
