My Sweetheart, Best Friend and Companion, Dwayne Wayland Arnold, 60, of 1504 Christians Bend Road, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday ( March 17, 2004) at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.

Dwayne was a life long resident of Hawkins county and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill and was a retired employee of Fraleys, Inc. Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He was a former member and captain of the Church Hill Rescue Squad and was an EMT. He was a former Instructor for the American Heart Association and was a mining safety instructor, and charter board member of the Goshen Valley Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ophia Smith Arnold.

Survivors include his wife of 40-1/2 years, Linda Christian Arnold, Church Hill; constant companion, "Taz"; one son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Joy Arnold, Church Hill, one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Art Lester, Panama City, FL; four granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Wendy, Katie and Natalie Arnold, and Ariel Lester; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert, Jr., and Lou Arnold, Kingsport; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Christian, Church Hill; step mother-in-law, Lucille Christian, Church Hill; special aunt, Mary Beaver, Church Hill; several nieces and nephews; many loving neighbors and friends. A special thanks to our Loving Church family for their love and support during this two year illness. Special thanks to Dr. Millard Lamb and the Oncoloyg staff at Johnson City Medical Center and a special thanks to the nurses who went beyond the call of duty in taking care of our family.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Church Hill First Free Will Baptist Church and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Derek Bell officiating. Eulogy will be given by Jerry Fraley.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Christians Bend Cemetery.

Pallbeaers will be Tim Christian, Shane Christian, Scott Christian, Mike Arnold, Frank Merrill, Paul Stafford, Bobby Vaughn, Mitch Ward, Logan Hunley and David Hennigar.

Honorary bearers will be members of the Church Hill Rescue Squad.

The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to the building fund of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Church Hill.
