Mr. John Lee Adams was born April 28, 1937. "Chicken," as he was affectionately known, was born in Biloxi, MS to the late Joseph Adams and Queen E. Ramsey Adams.

He lived his early years in Biloxi and completed his education at M. F. Nichols High School. After high school, he followed in the footsteps of his late brother, Wilbert Adams, and joined the United States Navy. This allowed him the opportunity to learn more about the world outside of Biloxi. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy on June 6, 1960 and later settled in Los Angeles, CA. During this time, he was employed with the California Department of General Services in the Fleet Administration Department. He retired from the state after thirty plus years of dedicated service. His love for Biloxi brought him back to the Coast to spend his remaining years. John Adams left this life Monday, February 19, 2007 in Jefferson, LA at the age of 69.

John loved people and was always accumulating more friends. He was very reserved and hardly ever spoke a harsh word about anyone. He was always willing to give whatever he had to others in need or just because he wanted you to have whatever he had to offer. One of his favorite pastimes was sports. He spent a lot of time on the weekends playing fast pitch softball.

John was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Henry Adams and Louise Isaacs Adams; maternal grandparents, Daisy Wortham Ramsey and Jacob Ramsey, his brother, Wilbert Adams, his grandson, Tyvel Adams, his favorite cousin, Robert Ramsey Jr., and his grandnephew, DeRon Purvis.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Adams of New Orleans, LA; sister, Clara E. Adams Parker of Fontana, CA; special aunt, Olivia Ramsey McClendon of Los Angeles, CA; nephews, Jerry (DeAnna) Parker of Fontana, CA, Michael (Mary) Parker of Los Angeles, CA, and Gregory Adams of Memphis, TN; niece, Valencia Parker (Jimmy) Musgrove of Fontana, CA; great granddaughter, Tylan Adams; good friend, John Collins, Suisun City, CA and a host of grandnephews, grandnieces, aunts, cousins and friends.

Services will be 10:45 AM Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 306 Main Street, in Biloxi, where Rev. Eric Dickey is pastor. Rev. Hubert Jackson, the assistant pastor, will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to service time. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, where he will receive military honors.
