Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Duckworth Funeral home for Mrs. Frank Stevens who died Sunday at 5 a.m. in the home of her sister, Mrs. Ethel Welliver, 107 South Kellogg, where she had been staying the last three weeks. Her death, after a lingering illness, was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.
Rev. George Van Norman, pastor of the Church of God, of which she was a member, officiated. Pallbearers were Donald Totten, Floyd Clark, Ernest Lehman, Orrio Moore, Don Bennett, and Forrest Green. Burial was in the Ames Municipal cemetery.
She was married in December 1946 to Frank Stevens at Kansas City, Kan. She was born here June 30, 1902, and spent most of her life in this community. She resided at 1525 Ridgewood. By a former marriage [to Hugo Charles Cantonwine] she is survived by eight children: six sons, Russell, Richard, Max, and Michael Cantonwine, all of Ames; Donald Cantonwine of California and Howard Cantonwine of Mather Field, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. William Breer of Key West, Fla., and Joan Cantonwine of Ames. Other survivors include a brother, Harold P. Craig and a sister, Mrs. Welliver, both of Ames; five grandchildren, three nephews and a niece. Her mother preceded her in death in 1921 and her father in 1916.
