Jean Rogers Hyers, 79, of Waycross died Tuesday night (Feb. 20, 2007) at Baptist Village after an extended illness. She was a native of Waycross and lived here for most of her life. Mrs. Hyers was a graduate of Waycross High School and Chandler Nursing School and Retired as Nursing Supervisor from Satilla Regional Medical Center after 43 years of service. She was a member of the Laymen Home Missionary Movement.
Her parents were the late Edwin H. Rogers and Pansy Peele Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Clinton Hyers, Sr.
Survivors include three daughters, Robyn Kelafant, Olanta, SC, Mary Ford Spivey (John), Douglas, GA, Sara "Sally" Dougherty (Phil), Jacksonville, FL, one son, Calvin Clinton Hyers, Jr. (Jill), Lagrange, GA, seven grandchildren, Katie Kelafant, Casey Kelafant, Lew Hyers, Meg Hyers, Abby Spivey, Jenna Spivey and Georgia Dougherty, one sister Betty Rogers Katkaveck, Chester Springs, PA, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
