Willie Shumate, 60, Fairfield R1, died early this morning at Warner Hospital where he had been a patient for one day.
Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Laura Shumate.
He had been employed as a coal miner in the Logan, W. Va., area for about 20 years.
He moved here in 1963 and worked at the Fairfield Shoe Co., until 1972.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Smith; three daughters, Mrs. Saundra Haines, Orrtanna R1; Pamela Shumate, Spring Grove R3; Joyce Shumate, Fairfield R1; two sons, Sam, Fairfield R1;
William, Orrtanna R1; step-daughters, Mrs. Susan Helman, Chambersburg R5; Mrs. Donna Kriner, Pueblo, Col.; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Wanda Ragsdale, Mrs. Beulah Baker, Mrs. Hazel Workman, Mrs. Viola Ragan; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 form the Monahan Funeral Home, Fairfield, with
Rev. Paul B Baker, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery
