Amy Matsushita Nose
YAKIMA - Amy Matsushita Nose passed away on February 10, 2007. She was born April 10, 1914 in Wapato, WA where she was raised and educated. She married James Nose on October 1, 1939 in Wapato and they lived in Seattle until the outbreak of World War II when they were interned at Heart Mountain, Wyoming Relocation Center in Wyoming. In 1943 they moved to Spokane and one year later to St. Paul, Minnesota.
They returned to live in Wapato in 1954 where Jim worked for U.S. Rubber Recap Co. Here it was that Jim and Amy were involved in teaching and encouraging many in the community about the Lord Jesus Christ. Amy began a very important work teaching children in after school Bible classes.
In 1969 they moved to Moses Lake. While Jim worked for Japanese Airlines and helped the Japanese Farm trainees at Big Ben College, Amy offered much help with her hospitality and assistance to the pilot's wives and the trainees. Jim died in 1994 and was buried in Yakima.
After about 10 years Amy returned to Yakima to live near her sister Kara Kondo. Kara died in 2005. Amy is survived by her sister Marjorie Matsushita Sperling of Pacific Palisades, CA.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Tahoma Cemetery.
