Adolph (Dolph) John Deppe 1920 ~ 2007 BOUNTIFUL- Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 of causes incident to age. Born January 25, 1920 to John and Anna (Annie) Gierisch Deppe. Moved to Bountiful at the age of 9. He was the youngest of three siblings. While growing up he attended schools in Davis County and helped his father run the family farm. He was a dedicated and hard worker. His mother was a wonderful homemaker and expert horticulturist. He spent many hours helping his mother in her prized flower garden. He married Melva East July 16, 1941. Solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. Melva died Feb. 2, 1976. He served in World War II in the United States Army in the Philippine Islands campaign and attained the rank of Tech Sergeant while working on and maintaining military vehicles. After an honorable discharge he returned home where after a few years he founded a trucking company that became his life long vocation. His success was fostered by many significant projects including the Salt Lake Airport runway expansion to facilitate the extra weight and takeoff requirements for jet aircraft. The greatest love of his life was his wife and his three sons. He spent many hours teaching correct principles by example. He served in numerous LDS Church assignments and enjoyed working on genealogy with his beloved wife Melva. He is survived by three sons, Lawrence K. (Judy) of Bountiful, Dennis A. (Linda) of North Salt Lake, and J. Lynn (Jamie) of Fruit Heights, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister. Graveside services under the direction of Russon Brothers Mortuary will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 West.
