My husband, my love, my life. Far from being perfect, He could gather a crowd, and keep everyone laughing. He always said he would divorce me if he couldnt make me smile, I am so thankful, that day never came. He was a fighter never honestly believed the Doctors when they told him that there was no hope. He felt so much better after every chemo. treatment. We always talked of moving back to his hometown in Missouri, but we had plans for it after our children were out of school. After the Doctors in Indiana said they would not give him anymore chemo he thought if we moved to MO the Drs. from the Unversity Hospital would give him more chemo. As it turned out they had no hope for him surviving either.
He grew so weak before he died , One day he asked me if I wanted to see him suffer I told him that he needed to get his strength back and I didnt think he was suffering. Two days later after trying to get him to eat something, he had a horrible look on his face I said dont you love me today. he sat in his wheelchair, moments later after i turned my back to him while washing dishes I could tell it took every bit of strength he had in him to say "I love you everyday" which were to be the very last words he every said, three days later he lost all his strength and died with my hand on his heart. My dearest friend, father of my children I will always love you Tick

Richard (Rick) Edward Emmons, 50, died at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 27, 2006) at his home in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Cause of death was non-lung small cell carcinoma

Mr. Emmons had been employed as an automobile hauler for Allied Auto Transit, Roanoke IN. His job transferred him to Indiana. He attended Apostolic Grace Fellowship for worship, and Sunday school at the Brethren Church as he enjoyed studying the Book of Revelations both in Andrews, IN. He enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He had resided in Andrews for 18 years. He moved back to Missouri Nov. 20 after becoming ill from cancer.

He was born Feb. 13, 1956 in Neelyville, Mo., John Emmons and Hazel Mae Lambert Emmons His first marriage in Neelyville to Mona Maynerd to this union were born Dana Snyder and Brian Emmons. However this marriage ended in divorce.
He married Margie St. Johns in Fort Wayne. Their children Hazel Dawn Emmons, Johnna Emmons, and Jerry Emmons, four sisters, Evelyn Cassinger and Myrtle Anderson, both of Poplar Bluff, Janice Crabtree of Fredricktown, Mo., and Mary Jane Quigley of Conroe, Texas; two brothers, Alvie Emmons of Williamsville, Mo., and Charles Emmons of Poplar Bluff; and 10 grandchildren.
His parents, brother, Harvey, and nephews Micky Crabtree, Bobby Quigley and Larry Emmons preceded him in death.
At his service a letter was read that his daughter Hazel had written. If someone told Rick Emmons that they were bored he would tell them that he has never been bored a day in his life, if he ever started getting bored, he would just find something else to do. he loved to build a fire and watch the sun come up while drinking coffee, yet his favorite part of the day was watching the sun go down. He liked fixing things even if they were not broken. He would give his shirt off his back and give the shirt off his children's back because he knew he could replace it. He was proud of his family and where he came from.
During the last week, of his life, on earth when, he was too, weak to speak. He looked like he was getting bored, so now he is doing something else, In a twinkling of an eye...
I'd like the memory of me to
be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of
smiles when day is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times and laughing
times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those
who grieve
to dry before the sun,
of happy memories that I leave
behind when day is done.

Thank you so much Joan this is lovely:
REMEMBRANCE CANDLEThe candle wax is dripping down; It's flickering flame so bright. This special candle is lit for you,In your memory, this special night.Tonight I'm holding you close again;Remembering our eternal love.Whispering choked "I miss you's";Up to the stars above. And as I watch this candle dim,My tears starting now to fade.Knowing the happiness of reunion; Is the PROMISE that HE made.AUTHOR: Joan Allen Pfeiffer
