SWORDS CREEK, Va. - Mrs. Opal Honaker Altizer, 82, of the Clark Valley section of Swords Creek passed away Saturday, June 22, 2002 in a Richlands, Va. hospital.
Born in Swords Creek, she was a daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Ida Bell Breedlove Hale. She was a member of the Pine Creek Pole Church and was a retired sales clerk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Honaker; second husband, Charles Altizer; two brothers, Beauchamp Hale and Robert S. Hale; six sisters, Lida Miller, Kate Taylor, Lola Call, Daisy Dye, Hazel Brown, and Mary Wiggins Strouth.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Shirley Honaker of Honaker, Va., Wayne and Linda Honaker of Marysville, Ohio, and David and Barbara Honaker of Bee, Va.; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Sam and Deanis Altizer of Cedar Bluff, Va.; one sister, Belle Hall of North Tazewell, Va.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker with the Rev. Sam Altizer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Va.
Pallbearers will be John L. Bostic, Jerry Hess, Jeff Honaker, John Reynolds, Blaine Reynolds, and J.B. Crabtree.
Honorary pallbearers will be caregivers at Golden Age Retirement Home, Dr. Howard C. Scott, Angela Harrison, Dr. Larry Mitchell, and Terry Brown.
